Anthony Lappé

lappe_baghdad_1.jpg SHOOTING WAR creator and writer Anthony Lappé is Executive Editor of GNN.tv, the web site for the Guerrilla News Network.

He is the co-author of their book True Lies (Plume) and the producer of their award-winning Showtime documentary about Iraq, BattleGround: 21 Days on the Empire’s Edge. He has written for The New York Times, the Huffington Post, New York, Vice, and Salon, among many others, and has been a producer for MTV News and Fuse. He is a frequent guest on Air America and other radio stations across the country. His blog, The Bunker, can be found here.

Dan Goldman

goldman_1.jpgMiami-brewed and Brooklyn-blessed, Dan Goldman is a writer, artist and designer. A founding member of daily comics anthology ACT-I-VATE, he is the artist behind the Eisner-nominated SHOOTING WAR and co-author of the political graphic novel EVERYMAN.

Dan is currently working on “KELLY”, his psychedelic romance-thriller serialized weekly on ACT-I-VATE. His next book project is a collaboration with The New Republic’s Michael Crowley, a campaign-trail memoir of the 2008 presidential primaries told in graphic novel form, published by Crown Books in fall of 2008. He lives in Brooklyn, baby.

Jeff Newelt

SHOOTING WAR creative consultant Jeff Newelt AKA JahFurry (www.myspace.com/jahfurry) is SMITH Magazine’s comics editor, Minister of Hype for ACT-I-VATE, comics editor of HEEB Magazine, and a PR Account Supervisor at MWW Group for Samsung. JahFurry also regularly performs freestyle dancehall reggae ditties with numerous superheroes of dub, jazz, klezmer and blues.

“SMITH: Everyone Has a Story” is proud to present Shooting War. Launched on January 6, 2006 (National Smith Day), SMITH is an online magazine devoted to storytelling in its many shapes and forms.

SMITH founding editor Larry Smith [larry-at-smithmag.net] has whirled around the media landscape for the past 15 years. He most recently was the articles editor of Men�s Journal, has been the executive editor of Yahoo! Internet Life, senior editor at ESPN magazine, a founding editor of P.O.V., and editor-in-chief of its sister publication, Egg, as well as an editor of Might magazine. SMITH managing editor Tim Barkow is a former editor at Wired, and the founder of SMITH’s sister publication, HelloIndie, an online magazine obsessed with the DIY craft scene.
