  2. Tim Hamilton Says:

Gets better every week. I’ll wait to see how the story finishes before I give
    my political 2 cents

  3. Job Yamen Says:

wow…………..Im not going to indulge too much, but man, your collaboration is absolutely amazing.

  4. Colin O' Mahoney Says:

The obvious touchstone for comparison for this is unavoidably DMZ, but so far, this compares very favourably. Where DMZ’s weak point is story; it tends to be weak and almost flat, Shooting War looks to improve on this, with a more compelling take on the war-stranded journalist.
The story is only now just beginning, but the set-up chapters were well done and enjoyable, and I love the art. Very well suited to both the story and the setting, forming a great dark, and sometimes brutal mood (witness the last few pages.)
Will keep coming back to this for a while yet.
Great nod to Monty Python as well, gotta love that.

  5. Anthony Lappй Says:

Colin - thanks for the note.
I purposefully haven’t checked out DMZ to avoid any influence. Several people have made the comparison.
Glad someone got the Python ref!
    Stay tuned…

  6. Jeff Comstock Says:

This is everything DMZ should have been

  7. Court Says:

Iiiiieeeee!! Shivers, shudders, prayers for the future. I’m officially hooked.

  8. James Says:

Holy Crap, this is the best thing I’ve read ina very long time. This shit is amazing. I’ve got chills. Let’s hope you’re not a prophet.

  9. Charles Shaw Says:

As The Beatles said, “Getting so much better all the time…”

Interesting that only 10k troops remain in Iraq then. I’d be very interested to learn the backstory of the precediong 6 years. Where else are American troops? What happened in the Caspian and Central Asia? Iran? Venezuela? Columbia? At home?

    What happened Domestically?

Keep it up, AL. Youvus Rockus Maximus.

  10. Dominic Says:

The Peoples front for the Liberation of Iraq were a bunch of splitters!

  11. Ray Says:

Did you mean to write “Allahu Akbar”?

Not that i’m suggesting your knowledge of Islam is distant and superficial, or anything.

  12. just john Says:

    ONLY ten bucks a gallon?

    You Pollyanna!

Otherwise, good stuff. Good art and writing. I also like the format — it fits perfectly in the browser window I had open — and I appreciate the lack of gimmickry (Flash/Shockwave, Javascript, Java, etc.) It shows that straight HTML can get the job done!

  13. Anthony Lappй Says:

    thanks jj
we fusted a around for a while getting it just right
of course, dan wanted it bigger
but not everyone has a monster monitor

  15. gerard Says:

  17. aquiq Says:

I was enjoying, though not agreeing with everything, until this page. mixing Chavez with the iranian mullahs is poor and farfetched, not to mention disinformative.
The axis of evil is everybody who doesn’t believe in liberalism? Give me a break.

  18. Some OS /bin/login Says:

This guy is supposed to look like a jihadi Che Guevara or something? Insulting.

  19. james Says:

pretty balant rip of Apocalypse now in this page (3/3)

  20. Scott Malcomson Says:

Nice writing, poor concept. OPEC hit the US harder with its initial oil embargo in ‘73, payback for the US support for Israel during the Arab invasion. Iran, Nigeria and Venezuela put together represent a fraction of that sort of opposition. And Iraq itself never accounted for more than 5% of US oil purchases…we’re not dependent on Iraqi oil. Our REAL “coaling station” is actually Kuwait, whose people still remember what being liberated from Saddam’s troops was like.

Not to mention that all three nations are so dependent on oil exports for their economy. Trying to outlast the US in another fruitless oil embargo (the US actually produces 40% of its own consumption — only a TOTAL worldwide cutoff would drive prices to $10/gal) would likely trigger populist revolutions.

  21. Bill Says:

I can’t tell if it was an accident or not, but having the helicopter pilot’s call sign be Tango Charlie (T.C.) brought back fond Magnum P.I. memories.

I forgot all about DMZ comparisons pretty early on until I read the comment. The similarities are superficial, and I’m enjoying both so far.
