  1. Nick Thorkelson Says:

Excellent. I love “When did Staten Island become so cool?”

I think in one place you wrote whinging when you meant whining. If I’m wrong, please explain what whinging is.

  2. Anthony Lappé Says:

    Brit-speak for whining.

  3. tatiana sayig Says:

powerful stuff. great art and writing.

  4. Lara Says:

    hilarious and very creative..

    Good shit!

  5. Tim Hamilton Says:

Engaging. You pegged Fox news quite well.
Looking fwd to what’s to come.

  6. Anthony Lappé Says:

Global News is actually far from Fox News. Fox’s rating tank with Bush’s exit in 08. The Bush/Cheney wing of the Republican party is toast. And the faux patriotism of Fox News loses it’s luster. Global News is just as reactionary, but is much more like if Lou Dobbs got his own network - nativist, highly critical of big business and down to show the American public the reality of the war.

  7. Dean Haspiel Says:

Another great and convincing episode. Keeps me on my toes. A good combo of 24 and DMZ while keeping it web-centric and unique. Savvy yet scary stuff. More!

  8. Dean Haspiel Says:

Also — not that there’s so much journalism going on but check out Ogrish.com for some gnarly “reportage” sans editorial.

  9. Rami Efal Says:

This is it. We hit the ground running and the road shakes with mortars. This is GREAT!

  10. Pat! Says:

  11. Ursula 1000 Says:

    niiiiiiiice!
    keep them coming….

  12. Josh Wolf Says:

Fucking brilliant, I especcially enjoyed panel 14. By the way, the cats on the yahoo videoblogging group all love this project. Rockin’ stuff.

  13. Anthony Lappé Says:

Thanks Josh. I figured you guys could relate.

  14. Dan Goldman Says:

Thanks for all your comments, lovely people. Just wait until you see what we have planned for this coming week…

  15. elarsix Says:

Absolutely excellent!! I love how you’re presenting the story in a grpahic novel, it really captures my attention! Can’t wait for the next chapter.

  16. Ken A. Says:

You have my undivided attention thus far, my babies, as I suspect you do more people than you know. Make magic.

  17. Alexis Bleu Says:

Amazingly FAB! Continue dragging me down this artful trail, kicking and crying for more…I am nervous but on my toes.

  18. Big Red Cheese Says:

Chapt 2, page 13 rocks. Well, the whole thing rocks. Rocks over there in “the box” as they call it. But watching a version ABC’s James “Jim” Schneider going prime time on Burns’ reality leaves him “lost.”

  19. Bushwacked Says:

My Critique Dan & Ant is that you need to re-do the pic on page 12. It should be “YOU REMIND ME OF A YOUNG ME, BUT THAT’S NEITHER HERE [NOR] THERE IS IT?”

But then again I thought you meant Whining like Nick did, but it turns out it means this:

    =================================================
    (hwnj, wnj)
    intr.v. Chiefly British whinged, whing·ing, whing·es
To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner.

    ——————————————————————————–
[Dialectal alteration of Middle English whinsen, from Old English hwinsian.]
    ——————————————————————————–
    whinger n.
    whinging·ly adv.

So maybe “NEITHER HERE [NOT] THERE” is a British cliché ???

  20. Owen Blacker Says:

Hey, us Brits didn’t even notice the “whinging” / “whining” thing :P

Love it; pages 13 and 14 made me laugh out loud (not good when I’m meant to be working and just waiting for some code to refactor). I’d love to be able to read the text on the LHS of page 11 panel 1 as well. Is “New York” a real magazine? The cover layout very much reminds me of “Wired” magazine.

Still loving it here in London!

  21. Anubis Says:

IS Jamie Lynn Spears the pwt younger sister of Brittany?
If so, that’s the best jibe at pop culture this month…

  22. juan Says:

    great work… great comic
just one thing.. the rebels are the narcos in these days.. and they wont take bogogta.. it would seriously cut into their profit margins.. i’m not kidding you.

  23. ian Says:

Jamie Lynn Spears is britneys younger sister

  24. Gordon Says:

Pretty good artwork. The author seriously needs to work on his spelling and incorrect usage of British slang by American characters though. Sorry, no American I know uses “whinging” and “bloody” in everyday speech.

  25. Gary Roberts Says:

Forget the whiney blog trolls, forget the empty complainers. Critics are artists with no talent who failed and now tear down others’ art out of bitterness. This stuff is brilliant, razor edged, smack em in da head kool. This comics artist loves YOUR STUFF.

  26. Jim Says:

I thought the appropriation of Britishisms was very realistic. I work with a lot of Americans who affect British speech and spellings, including “whinge” and “bloody.” For some reason they tend to be programmer types - anyone know why?

  27. Anthony Lappé Says:

Why do people assume Newfeld is American? The reason he speaks with Britishisms, is because he’s British.

    Thanks for the comments!

  28. Kurtley Says:

I read about this in Wired magazine. Every since I was a kid, I’ve always loved comic books. I’m fifty now.. This is really cool. I rarely send anyone any links to web sites cause most of them don’t impress me much. But this is really cool. This is the best site I’ve seen since the ‘Blackhawk Down” site that was up a couple of years before the movie. I sent this link to all my friends!

    Great job dude!

  29. Gihan Suranga Says:

    This is really cool man,!

  30. leemajaz Says:

i’m only 2 chapters in to it and i love it. nice work!

  31. Quietus Says:

Quick question. What did Jimmy mean when he referred to the CEO’s speech as “Hegel”?

  32. Loraine Baird Says:

  33. mujde ar Says:

Really nice site you have here. I’ve been reading for a while but this post made me want to say 2 thumbs up. Keep up the great work

  34. OdormaEarneme Says:

    That’s not my fault.
